The answer to that really does depend on the dog and the dog's purpose.
The only dogs that are permitted to visit the Oasis Camel Dairy are service dogs.
This does not include therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, comfort dogs or service dogs in training.
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability.
Following the protocol outlined by the ADA, we are able to insure all guests as well as all animals enjoy a positive experience.
The ADA maintains that facilities restrict service dogs from areas where the animals on display are either:
A) the natural prey of dogs
B) the natural predator of dogs
Both of these scenarios can cause agitation or aggression in the resident animals.
In consideration of the Oasis Camel Dairy's resident animals, service dogs are permitted in all common areas where the public is permitted.
However, service dogs are restricted from a distance of twenty feet from enclosures, performing or working animals including birds, dogs, sheep, donkeys, horses and camels.
As required by ADA, any service dog who is disruptive in behavior (ie; barking at animals, other guests) or acting out of control or aggressively will be asked to leave.
