Gil and Nancy are embarking on a wild adventure. MORE ABOUT THE EXTREME DESERT CHALLENGE: STAYING CONNECTED: In addition to crossing the desert drinking only camel milk, water and eating dried dates, the Rieglers will also stay connected with school children, enthusiasts and fans via podcasts and blogs uploaded live during the journey. One camel is being outfitted with a special solar charger to allow Gil and Nancy to communicate with the outside world daily. CREATURE COMFORTS: CAMEL CONSIDERATIONS… The camels themselves are NOT being challenged. Although they will be taught to rein ride, carry packs and wear hobbles (an alternative to tying them allowing for safer and greater freedom of movement) they will not go without food or water. University students will stage camel food and water stations along the route daily. HUMAN CONSIDERATIONS… Gil is a former army commander and instructor. He taught extensive desert survival skills to combat soldiers. Nancy spent childhood camping vacations with her mom and sister in a Sears’s canvas tent. Gil is developing technology to harness solar energy to run communication equipment for the journey. Nancy is developing a portable instant privacy commode so she doesn’t have to look for a bush. … This is going to be interesting!
And they want YOU to come along!
CAMEL MILK EXTREME CHALLENGE:
One husband. One wife. One small dog. Five camels.
One HUGE desert.... for ONE MONTH!
And on the trip, Gil and Nancy will consume nothing but camel's milk, dried dates and water!
